It was too good to be true, this game is a damn turd. I get that it would have to be redesigned if they hadn't planned using it for the next game when they were designing it for New Order, and it doesn't work with what they had in mind. The submarine control room layout is markedly different between New Order and Colossus. I feel however that it's not as enjoyable as the previous games.Īlso, and this comes to mind because I'm spending so much time in the stupid submarine:ġ. I get what the devs were doing with the storytelling, and I commend them for taking a chance (and it seems to really resonate with reviewers). The BJ childhood scenes are really freaking heavy. Colossus features depressed people in a hopeless situation, and BJ spends all of his inner monologue complaining about how he's dying, and talking to a dead person. Old Blood had BJ making funny quips from time to time "Hey look at that, it's raining Nazis". The story I feel has taken a step backwards, I really liked the New Order story and the characters because everything seemed super optimistic, the characters had hope. I'm getting kind of sick of spending so much time in the submarine however. New Order had excellent storytelling and great gameplay, Old Blood had excellent gameplay and great story. I really enjoyed the New Order, and to a lesser degree Old Blood. I had to close the game and open it back up to make that go away.

Later in the evening my Windows mouse cursor somehow became activated in the game (I hadn't switched back to the desktop, not using overlays, it just appeared and decided to hang around), and it would move across my screen as I was moving the mouse to navigate in game. The game itself uses ~3 GB of system RAM (overall system RAM in use during play is ~9 GB from a fresh reboot).Ī few glitches - yesterday during playing my girlfriend wanted to chat so I pulled up the Journal page, and after turning back to the computer a couple of minutes later the game had hung, I had to bring up Task Manager to kill the process. The game uses all 8 GB of my video RAM, 60-80% GPU utilization. Going by Task Manager, my overall CPU utilization doesn't exceed 20%.

Super optimized code too I'm running with all visual settings to the max - Uber and Ultra as appropriate, and the FPS stays locked at 120 FPS.
Shadows are awesome (lots of subtle shadow effects), lights are awesome (check out Max's room with the colored lights, Pig's disco ball), and effects on different materials are awesome (in the beginning, when we first meet Sigrun, check out how the lighting reacts differently on her leather jacket vs her skirt). Visuals are simply phenomenal, I sometimes just gaze around to see how the lighting reacts with the environment. If FPS issues still persist you may want to lower or disable Anti-Aliasing and/or Screen Space Reflections and/or lower your resolution to FHD since higher can have serious impact on the performance on older GPUs.I'm super impressed with the engine. All rest vt_pageImageSize* CVars can be set to even 256. Bare minimum for vt_pageImageSizeUnique is 4096 (below that values, there are blurry textures in chapter Wolfenstein Keep). Set this to 16384 if you have a modern GPU with about 3 GB of RAM, or to 4096 if you have less than 1 GB (and in some cases less than 1.5 GB) of RAM and/or an older GPU. Actually, higher means better texture quality. all four vt_pageImageSize* CVars to 16384.vt_restart - is necessary for most/all CVars starting with the prefix 'vt_' to have an effect.vt_cudaBudget (if using CUDA) - to a value below your frame time.
Set it to 0 or 2 (default) in case of minifreezes. Set jobs_numthreads to 1 (for low end CPUs this needs to be turned on in-game console, or wolfconfig with it turned to read only, or in the shortcut (+jobs_numthreads 1).To turn on game mode, you need to set windowed mode temporarily.

DISPLAY MODE: borderless windowed mode (posible tearing on full screen too).if you have an Intel CPU with 4 physical cores and HT and you experience lags with the variable set to 64, try setting the value to 16). set the value to no more than 8 for CPUs with 2 or 4 cores and to 16 for CPUs with 6 or more cores (e.g. VIRTUAL TEXTURE MAX PPF: 16 (0 or 1 is the fastest - but cause more texture popping, 4 may be good one, in some cases 64, in others 128 or even around 10000 ).VIRTUAL TEXTURE COMPRESSION: ENABLED (or disabled on non-Nvidia GPU, and while not exceeding VRAM).VERTICAL SYNC: OFF (you can try to force it in GPU control panel instead, and then turn on triple buffering in GPU control panel ).Certain details on id Tech 5 causes problems even on recent GPUs (esp.
